Rosario, Cavite Mayor Jose “Nonong” Ricafrente on Tuesday morning suspended classes from elementary to college in public and private institutions following incessant rains in their town.

“Simula alas singko, naranasan namin na malakas ang buhos ng ulan dito. Mahina, malakas. Pabugso-bugso,” Ricafrente told Radyo Inquirer 990 AM. “Para sa saftey ng kababayan, wala na munang klase mula grade school hanggang college dito.”

(Since 5 a.m., we have been experiencing strong rains here. It would vary from weak to strong and gusty. For the safety of our constituents, I have suspended classes from grade school to college here.)

The rest of the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) region on Tuesday however felt only intermittent rains and overcast skies, according to regional disaster risk reduction and management council director Vicente Tomazar.
Other municipalities in Cavite, for instance Trece Martires City and General Mariano Alvarez, experienced hot weather hours before noon.

Weather observer Elvie Enriquez of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Tuesday told INQUIRER.net that the onset of the rainy season is almost here.
