Professor Kiyotaka Kobayashi of the Ikenobo Ikebana Society of Floral Art in Kyoto, Japan, will conduct a seminar-workshop on the latest Ikebana trends for members of the Ikenobo Ikebana Society of Manila from June 27 to 29 at Design Center of the Philippines on Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City.
On June 30, with the cooperation of the Embassy of Japan, he will give a free demonstration and open an exhibit at 2 p.m. at the Glorietta Activity Center, Palm Drive, Makati City.
The ceremonial opening will follow at 4:30 p.m. with the striking of the Gong for Good Luck by Piedad Reina Roman of Davao, Teresa Celdran of Cagayan de Oro, Dr. Lupe M. Lazaro club president of the Manila chapter, overall exhibit chair Dr. Romeo Balderrama Jr., Prof. Kobayashi, Glorietta representative Mitch Dumlao, NCCA Chair Prof. Felipe M. de Leon Jr. and the wife of the Japanese ambassador, Madam Yuko Ishikawa.
The exhibit is open until July 5 with lecture-demonstrations every afternoon at 3 p.m.
The demonstrators are: July 1, Prof. Mett Metilla and Prof. Lupe Lazaro; July 2, Prof. Tess Calunsod, Aida Villanueva and Nina Ramos; July 3, Tin Abalos, Prof. Liling Nuguid and Tess Baldonado; July 4, Prof. Joyce Kato, Mila Robles and Missy Ignacio and July 5, Dr. Jun Balderrama, Jr., Prof. Mett Metilla and Dr. Norie Balderrama.
