Police on Wednesday filed charges against the man who was seen severely beating up his two children in a video that has gone viral on social media.
Senior Supt. Alan Nobleza, Muntinlupa police chief, said the charges of physical injuries and grave threats were filed against Raymond San Juan, a tricycle driver, at the Muntinlupa Prosecutors Office around 5 p.m.
Nobleza said San Juan was arrested in his house in Guwardiya Ilaw Compound in Barangay Cupang on the same day.
“He did not offer any resistance,” he said, noting that the man was detained at the Muntinlupa police station as of this posting.
According to Nobleza, barangay authorities said San Juan was a “good” man (matino) but started beating up his children when he started using drugs years ago.
Nobleza said in the first part of the video, San Juan was beating up his six-year-old son. He said there were also reports he had beaten up his three-year-old daughter.
“His live-in partner also became battered when she was staying with him so she left him and took their one-year-old son with her to Cagayan Valley,” Nobleza said, identifying the live-in partner as Leycel Moral.
According to Nobleza, the six-year-old boy and 3-year-old girl are now with the city’s social welfare office.
“We are trying to contact the mother so we can turn over those two children to her,” he said.
