The modernized Museo ni Rizal in Calamba, Laguna, will be opened to the public on June 19 in commemoration of Jose Rizal’s 154th birth anniversary, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) said on Wednesday.

In a statement, NHCP said the museum would feature “innovative exhibits and interactive technologies narrating the childhood, education, and foreign travels of Jose Rizal, which shaped his social and political consciousness to seek reforms from the Spanish colonial government through his influential writings.”

A bronze sculpture by artist Julie Lluch portraying Rizal as a patriot and scholar would also highlight the exhibit, NHCP said.

Students can also access NHCP’s online history lessons about Rizal and other historical figures through the e-learning facility that will also be featured in the exhibit.

NHCP said Budget Secretary Florencio “Butch” Abad will be the guest speaker during the event. Laguna Gov. Ramil Hernandez, Calamba City Mayor Justin Marc Chipeco and Laguna Rep. Joaquin Chipeco Jr. will also be delivering messages. YG
