/ 05:18 AM June 17, 2015

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) advised pilots on Tuesday to avoid the immediate vicinity of restive Mt. Bulusan in southern Luzon.

Mt. Bulusan in Sorsogon, the 4th-most active volcano in the country, again spewed ash before noon Tuesday prompting the CAAP to declare a no-fly zone around it.

CAAP officials issued a notice to airmen to steer clear of the area and take alternate flight paths.

According to CAAP spokesman Eric Apolonio, ash from volcanoes poses serious danger to aircraft because the pyroclastic material could cause engine malfunction.
