Senators Grace Poe and Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito on Friday led the commemoration of the 117th Independence Day in the city of San Juan.

Poe was the guest speaker in the event while Ejercito was former mayor of the city.

Ejercito’s mother, Guia Gomez, the incumbent city mayor, and House Minority Leader Ronaldo Zamora were also present, along with other local officials.

The commemoration was held at the Pinaglabanan Memorial Shrine.

“Walang kalayaan kung walang pinaglabanan (You cannot achieve freedom if you do not fight for anything),” Mayor Gomez said in her speech. IDL
