MMDA to offer free Pasig River ferry rides on June 12

The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will offer free Pasig River ferry rides on June 12, Independence Day.

MMDA Chair Francis Tolentino said the public could avail of the free rides from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

“The Libreng Sakay will enable the agency to further promote the ferry system as an alternative mode of transportation, particularly in the midst of the present traffic congestion problem resulting from the numerous ongoing infrastructure projects of the government in Metro Manila,” Tolentino said in a statement.

The ferry service has 11 stations, which include Pinagbuhatan and San Joaquin in Pasig City, Guadalupe and Valenzuela in Makati City, Hulo in Mandaluyong City, PUP Sta. Mesa, Sta. Ana, Lambingan, Escolta, Lawton and Plaza Mexico in Manila.

At present, it has 10 passenger boats in operation.
