UST to offer MA in Journalism starting August 2015
The University of Santo Tomas will begin offering a master of arts in journalism program this coming school year, which opens August 10.
UST’s MA in Journalism program is open to starting and veteran journalists, young graduates interested in journalism and news media work, teachers of journalism and communication programs, and even foreign students.
The 42-unit program will be an international program that will expose graduate students to current trends surrounding Philippine journalism and journalism in other countries, while attempting to blend journalism practice with theory and research.
There will also be subjects that keep abreast with today’s trends in journalism (such as data journalism) while some courses will emphasize ethics for journalists.
Applications for the first term are welcome up to June 30, with application materials available for download through this URL: https://graduateschool.ust.edu.ph/admission-policies/
UST is Southeast Asia’s first journalism school, first offering a Bachelor of Literature (B. Litt) in Journalism in 1932. Since then, the university has produced some of the country’s top editors and reporters across news media platforms while steadily producing younger breeds of journalists for the country’s news media.
