Did you know: Dengue Awareness Month

June was declared Dengue Awareness Month by virtue of Proclamation No. 1204 signed in April 1998 by then President Fidel Ramos. According to data from the Department of Health’s National Epidemiology Center, a total of 24,075 cases were reported nationwide from Jan. 1 to May 2 this year. This is 8.53 percent higher than the 22,182 cases reported during same period last year.—Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
