Village chief shot dead in Cabanatuan City

CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija, Philippines -— A barangay (village) chief in this city was shot and killed by two men in front of his house in Barangay Camp Tinio on Sunday morning, police said.

Roger Pascual, 52, village chair of Camp Tinio, was sipping coffee in front of his house along the Cabanatuan-Fort Magsaysay Road at 5:40 a.m. when he was attacked by two men on a motorcycle, said his wife, Annie, a village councilor.

Pascual, who had three bullet wounds, died at the Good Samaritan Hospital here.

The attack on Pascual was the second on a village chair in the province last week.

On June 3, Arsenio Santos, village chair of Sta. Rita in Jaen town, survived a gun attack by two men on a motorcycle. Santos came from a meeting at the Jaen town hall and was driving his motorcycle when the gunmen shot him at 6:45 p.m. Santos had four bullet wounds. SFM
