Grace Poe mulls DNA testing to identify real father

Sen. Grace Poe is considering offers to undergo DNA testing to determine the identity of her biological father.

Poe, who was in Iloilo on Friday morning, said she acquired more information supporting claims that a certain Edgardo Militar was her biological father.

She said she was considering an offer by the children of Militar to submit themselves to DNA testing to determine her real parents.

During her four-hour visit, the senator met with Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, some friends and supporters.

Poe, an adoptive daughter of actress Susan Roces and late movie actor Fernando Poe Jr., also made a brief but “emotional” stop at Jaro Cathedral, where she was abandoned when she was a baby.

She said she wanted to determine who her real parents were but stressed that the real issue was equal treatment of and opportunities for foundlings. IDL/RC
