3.8-magnitude quake jolts Negros Oriental

A magnitute 3.8 earthquake jolted Negros Oriental on Wednesday evening, state seismologists said.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake occurred 17 kilometers southeast of Santa Catalina town at 9:26 p.m.

Phivolcs said it had a depth of 28 kilometers and was tectonic in origin.

It said intensity III were felt in Dumaguete City and Sibulan, Negros Oriental.

No damages or aftershocks were expected, it added.
