Five college students were injured after being attacked by a swarm of bees inside a forest park in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, on Tuesday, police reported.
Injured were Odessa Sales, 19; Lynvie Sagayno, 19; Allya Bicoy, 19; Roderick Makiputin, 21, and Ethel Dominique, 19, according to a report from the Negros Occidental provincial police.
Sales and Sagayno are students of the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod City while Bicoy, Makiputin, and Dominique are students of the Mindanao State University in Iligan City.
The five, who are all are taking up Biology in their respective schools, were at the Guintubdan Wilderness Park in Brgy. Ara-al around 2 p.m. to conduct research when they were attacked by bees, according to the report.
They were walking the trail inside the park when they encountered a swarm of honey bees, which suddenly attacked and stung them on different parts of the body, the report said.
Members of the local rescue unit brought the students to the Don Salvador Memorial District Hospital for treatment.
