UP profs, staff to get P15K in assistance
The faculty and staff of the University of the Philippines (UP) will receive a one-time educational assistance bonus of P15,000 this month to help them meet school opening expenses.
The UP Board of Regents approved the Education Support Grant “in response to requests from employees to alleviate financial pressures from higher household expenses due to the school opening,” according to the memorandum signed by UP president Alfredo Pascual.
Some 12,000 faculty, research, extension, professional and administrative staff on UP’s 17 campuses will receive the ESG. It will be paid out of the savings or revolving fund of each UP unit.
Full-time employees, whether permanent, temporary, contractual or casual, with at least four months of service by June 30 this year will be entitled to the grant.
A prorated amount will be given to newly hired employees, those who reported back to work after a leave without pay, and employees who left the university between Jan. 1 and June 30 this year.
Part-time employees will receive half the amount in proportion to their months of service.–Erika Sauler
