Queen City announces new lineup

THE Cebu Queen City United (CQCU) has released its official lineup as they debut in the United Football League (UFL) Cup next month.

The team, which will be coached by Mario Ceniza, will be led by two former national team members Rocky Garciano and Jan Michael “Jano” Flores.

Other members of the team, which will be Cebu ’s first entry into the country’s premiere football league, are goalkeepers Alex Buanghog, Garry Garciano and Frederick “Ktec” Alazas.

The team will have as its defenders Jack Reston, Ronald Mahilum, Benedict “Blui” Arriola, Carlito “Shak” Abadia, Christian “Sadam” Delan, Yance Menchavez, Niño Zapanta, Dave Gerali and Ranulfo Colina.

Joining Flores and Rocky Garciano in the midfield are Martin Bontia, Julius Acre, Josaphat Sacil, Mitsuo Tsunakiri and Marion Cubelo.

Designated strikers are Ariel “Aying” Cahilig, Epifanio Ynot, Limhar “Ipang” Baunsit, Junard Auilar, Rene Menchavez. and Rommel “Chawco” Cuizon.

CQCU will be leaving for Manila on Oct. 8 to face Pachanga FC on Oct. 9 at the University of Makati football field.

The Cebu team is in Group C alongside Pachanga FC, Global FC and Stallions FC.

CQCU will immediately be put to a test as the Global FC is the defending champion in this tournament.

Azkal mainstays will be seen playing in this tournament as they have been picked up by some of the teams.

Phil and James Younghusband will be suiting up for Loyola Meralco, while Angel Guirado is with  Global FC.

Aside from Aly Borromeo, Anton del Rosario and Yannick Tuason, Kaya also has picked Nate Burkey and Jason Sabio.  /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. alison
