Businessman abducted in Zamboanga del Norte town

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Unidentified armed men on Thursday evening snatched a businessman in Labason town in Zamboanga del Norte.

Zamboanga del Norte Governor Wilter Palma told the Inquirer that Dennis Cabadunga, who hails from Zamboanga Sibugay, was forcibly taken by at least four heavily-armed men while visiting his farm in Sitio Lupad in Barangay Malintuboan.

Palma said Cabadunga’s family also operates a business in Labason.

He said the kidnappers fled with the victim aboard two white watercraft to a still undetermined direction.

Thursday’s kidnapping incident in Zamboanga del Norte was the second to take place in the said province this month.

On May 4, a band of unidentified armed men also simultaneously took at gunpoint two members of the Philippine Coast Guard and a barangay official of Dapitan City.

The victims, Rodolfo Boligao, chair of Barangay Aliguay; and Coast Guard Seaman First Class 2 Gringo Villaluz and Seaman First Class 1 Rod Pagaling, remained in the hands of their captors.

Boligao was snatched from his home while the two Coast Guard men were taken from their posts at the Aliguay village hall.
