COTABATO CITY – Lee Man-hee, a world-renowned South Korean peace advocate, is scheduled to arrive in Maguindanao province today for a peace summit that thousands of people are expected to attend.
Man, chair of the group Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light, an international peace organization that has made strides by reminding leaders and lawmakers of their responsibility to protect citizens, will join the summit in the town of Buluan.
The summit has been called to open discussions on the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law or now House Bill No. 4994.
Maguindanao Gov. Esmael Mangudadatu confirmed on Sunday the presence of Man, also the founder of South Korea’s Shinchonji Church of Christ.
Apart from Man, leaders from the Catholic Church and Muslim communities, military and rebel officials, and representatives from the government and nongovernment sectors are expected to attend the summit.
Maguindanao provincial board member Lawyer Bobby Katambak said leaders of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front were invited to the summit.
