30,007 pass March 2015 licensure exams for elementary, secondary teachers
A total of 12,103 out of 44,144 examinees passed the recent licensure examination for teachers (LET) in the elementary level, while 17,904 teachers out of 56,596 examinees hurdled the test in the secondary level, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced on Saturday.
Data from PRC showed that De La Salle University-Manila (32 examinees) and University of the Philippines-Diliman (24 examinees) emerged as top-performing schools in the elementary level after recording a perfect passing rate.
Saint Louis University ranked third with 97.30-percent passing rate, followed by Central Philippine University with 86.21 percent.
Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela and Polytechnic University of the Philippines-Unisan came in fourth and fifth with 81.25-percent and 80.95-percent passing rates, respectively.
In the secondary level, UP Diliman (60 passers out of 60 examinees) also topped the list of top-performing schools with 95.24-percent passing rate. Saint Louis University (90.32 percent), University of Santo Tomas (89.06 percent), Xavier University (86.52 percent), and Philippine Normal University (81.25 percent) also cracked the top five.
The PRC requires 20 or more examinees and with at least 80-percent passing rate for a school to be declared as top-performing.
Vincent Isidro of UP Diliman topped the exam in the elementary level with 90.40-percent passing rate, while Herminigilda Notario of North Valley College Foundation, Inc. topped the exam for prospective high school teachers with 91.40 percent.
The exams were administered by the Board for Professional Teachers and were held in Singapore and in 17 testing centers in the Philippines last March 29. IDL
