Sandigan junks bid to transfer Sen. Bong Revilla to regular jail

The Sandiganbayan First Division has junked with finality the motion to transfer detained Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. to a regular jail.

In a nine-page resolution issued on Thursday, the antigraft court dismissed the motion for reconsideration to transfer Revilla and his aide, lawyer Richard Cambe.

The prosecution earlier asked the court to transfer Revilla and Cambe to a jail facility at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City.

The court in its decision, however, said the motion was denied due to lack of merit.

“The court does not consider sufficient the reported unauthorized visit of accused Revilla to the hospital room of Senator [Juan Ponce] Enrile on Feb. 14, 2015, to justify his transfer to Camp Bagong Diwa,” the resolution read.

Revilla has been detained at the Philippine National Police (PNP) custodial center in Camp Crame after being indicted of gaining more than P200 million in kickbacks from his pork barrel funds. RC
