Daughter of ex-PBA player faces raps for vehicular accident in Manila

A man was killed and 12 others were hurt when a vehicle driven by a daughter of former PBA player Nelson Asaytono plowed through shops and a waiting shed in Sta. Mesa, Manila, on Tuesday night.

Traffic investigator SPO3 Rey Fernandez identified the driver as Kim Arielle Asaytono, 22, a resident of Kapitolyo, Pasig City. The lone fatality was identified as Oscar Lastimado.

Fernandez said on Wednesday that Asaytono will face homicide and 12 counts of reckless imprudence resulting in physical injuries after she allegedly lost control of the red Innova vehicle she was driving and plowed through shops and commuters in a waiting shed on Ramon Magsaysay and Altura streets at around 8.30 p.m.

A Radyo Inquirer 990 AM report on Wednesday said Asaytono was having an argument with her female companion when she lost control and rammed into the waiting shed.

The vehicle then plowed through a horse race betting station, a barber shop, and two tricycles parked along the street.

Rescue teams from the Red Cross brought the injured victims to the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay (UERM) Medical Center, Tondo Medical Center and Lourdes Hospital after the incident. Police said at least four of the injured remained in critical condition.

Police said Asaytono failed to present a driver’s license to the authorities. AU
