Senator Antonio Trillanes IV rejected Makati City Representative Mar-Len Abigail Binay’s offer to face the Senate hearings on corruption allegations thrown at her family.
Binay, in an interview on ABS-CBN News Channel Monday, said she was willing to attend the Senate hearings if she would be invited by Trillanes. It was Trillanes, who initiated the Senate blue ribbon subcommittee’s hearings into corruption allegations against the lawmaker’s father, Vice President Jejomar Binay.
It was also Trillanes who earlier proposed a Senate probe on Representative Binay’s alleged anomalies on her pork barrel funds.

But the senator was not biting the lady lawmaker’s offer to face the Senate hearing.
“I really wish we need her but we don’t. Ang kailangan naming humarap ay yung tatay nya (It’s her father we need to face [the Senate hearing]),” Trillanes said.
In the same interview, Representative Binay also stressed she would welcome anyone to be her father’s running mate in 2016, except Trillanes.
Asked again for comment, the senator said: “That’s juvenile. But just to be clear, I never planned to apply in the first place.”
“Besides, I maintain that her father would back out from the race a few months from now,” Trillanes added.
The Vice President said in previous interviews he would not withdraw his presidential bid.
