Another Valenzuela fire displaces 35 families

Just three days after a massive fire hit a footwear factory and killed 72 people, another fire engulfed a residential area in Valenzuela City on Saturday night, affecting an estimated  35 families.

The blaze, which reached the fifth alarm, started at 10:35 p.m. in the house of Roberto Nabo on Pinagpala Street, Lower Tamaraw in Barangay (village) Marulas.

It quickly spread to nearby houses since some were made of light materials, said arson investigator FO2 Iris Joy Hebres.

She added that around P750,000 worth of property and belongings were lost in the blaze, which was put out at 12:07 a.m. Sunday. No one was reported injured or killed.

A fire official said they were looking into reports that the blaze started from an unattended gas stove in Nabo’s house.
