The Commission on Higher Education was created by virtue of Republic Act No. 7722, or the Higher Education Act of 1994, enacted on May 18, 1994. It is headed by a chair and four commissioners, each having a term of office of four years. The central office of the commission is currently located at the HEDC Building on C.P.
