VICE President Jejomar Binay will not withdraw his presidential bid in 2016 despite the fresh attacks against him, his daughter Senator Nancy Binay said on Thursday.
The senator said the fight continues as she expressed confidence her father would overcome all the challenges that would come his way.
“Tuloy-tuloy. Sabi ko nga di ba yun na yata ang kwento ng buhay namin kailangang may laban because ganun talaga e, lahat naman tayo may problema,” she said.
(The fight continues. As I said, that ’s the story of our life. There are always challenges but that’s life, all of us has problems)
Asked then if that meant that the Vice President would not back out from the race, “Hindi, hindi talaga kasi mas mahalaga sa kanya na matulungan ang ating mga kababayan kaysa kumbaga yung mga issues na binabato sa kanya.”
( No, really no because it’s more important for him to help our countrymen than deal with the issues being thrown at him.)
Asked again about Senator Antonio Trillanes’ prediction that her father would eventually withdraw his bid, Senator Binay said: “E kasi gusto yata nilang umurong sya kasi pag tiningnan nyo yung mga numero , e yun na yata ang pag-asa nila para manalo sila kung uurong ang ating Vice President,” she said.
(That’s what they want because when you look at the numbers I think they will only have a chance of winning if our Vice President withdraws his bid.)
The senator also rejected former Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson’s advice for the Vice President to sign a waiver to allow the opening of bank accounts under his name.
“E kasi di ba at this point, ano pa ang iwi-waive namin e parang lahat na lang binuksan na lang nila and ilang beses na rin kaming nagpapaliwanag tungkol dun sa SALN pano naging ganun yung nakasulat sa SALN pero ang hirap kasi pag hindi nakikinig dun sa paliwanag e talagang hindi malilinawagan di ba? she said.
(Because at this point, what is there to waive when they have already opened it? And we already explained our SALN many times but it’s difficult when they don’t listen to our explanation.)
Besides, Senator Binay saw no need to sign a waiver since she said the Anti-Money Laundering Council has access already to the family’s bank accounts.
Like any other human being, the senator said her father was also affected by his detractors.
“Kaming pamilya tanggap namin batikusin nyo siraan nyo, pero yung mga tao na kaibigan lang naman namin e nadadamay sa gulo.. H.indi naman sila sanay aa ganito at least, kami kahit papaano medyo sanay na rin pero syempre masakit e di lalo na sa kanila na hindi sanay,” she further said. AC
