‘Dodong’ slightly speeds up as it lashes Batanes
Typhoon “Dodong” (international name: Noul) has accelerated slightly as it continues to lash the Batanes group of islands, the state weather bureau said late Monday morning.
In a press briefing, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Dodong is now moving 20 kilometers per hour (kph) in a north northeast direction as it maintained its strength, packing maximum sustained winds of 160 kph and gusts of up to 195 kph.
As of 10 a.m, Dodong was located 65 kilometers north northeast of Basco, Batanes.
Four areas were placed under storm signals: signal No. 3 was raised over Batanes, signal no. 2 was hoisted over Babuyan and Calayan group of islands and signal no. 1 in Northern Cagayan.
Pagasa said there are no more threats of storm surge.

The state weather agency said it is monitoring a new tropical storm (with international name “Dolphin”) which is expected to enter PAR on Sunday. TVJ
