‘Dodong’ slows down, maintains strength

Typhoon ‘Dodong’ (Noul) has slowed down but maintained its strength, the weather bureau said Saturday.

In its weather bulletin issued at 5 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the estimated rainfall amount is from heavy to intense within the 300 km diameter of the typhoon.

“Dodong” is expected to make a landfall over Isabela-Cagayan Area on Sunday early morning.

At 4 a.m. Saturday, the center of the typhoon is spotted at 290 km east northeast of Virac, Catanduanes with strength of maximum sustained winds of 160 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 195 kph.

Signal number 2 is up in Catanduanes, Polillo Island, Aurora, Isabela and Quirino.

Signal number 1 is raised in Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Quezon, Cagayan, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Apayao, Benguet and Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands, Northern Samar and Eastern Samar.
