PCSO: AFP has new millionaire

Newspaper stories of past lotto winners inspired a soldier from Cavite province to also try his luck—and the effort paid off to the tune of P17 million.

A 34-year-old military man became the latest overnight millionaire to figure in such reports, as he claimed his winnings on Thursday after hitting the jackpot in the April 30 SuperLotto 6/49 draw.

The lone winner took home P17.55 million after picking the lucky combination 01-13-16-22-26-34, said Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Vice Chair and General Manager Jose Ferdinand Rojas II.

The winner, who collected his prize at the PCSO office in Mandaluyong City, recalled being “carried away” by press reports of past winners that’s why he started buying tickets less than a year ago, Rojas said.

The man plans to use his winnings to buy a house and lot and share a portion with his parents. But despite his instant riches, he said he won’t be leaving the Armed Forces of the Philippines anytime soon, the PCSO official added.

Meanwhile, Rojas said the jackpot prize in the Grand Lotto 6/55 draw today, May 9, is expected to reach P107 million as no bettor got the winning combination 01-15-43-49-54-55 in Wednesday’s draw. Jovic Yee
