Tobacco farmers assured of market
MANILA, Philippines–A local tobacco company has committed to purchase this year more tobacco leaves from farmers in the tobacco-producing provinces of Northern Luzon.
Bulacan-based Mighty Corp. assured Rep. Eric Singson, president of the Northern Alliance in the House of Representatives, of the company’s full and unwavering support to uplift the lives of tobacco-farming families in the region.
Geoffrey Y. Gadiana, a Mighty official, relayed the firm’s commitment to Singson.
“Mighty Corp. stands firm on its commitment to help the tobacco farmers in the Philippines with its pronouncements this year to purchase more tobacco leaves and to continue its outreach projects for tobacco farmers,” Gadiana told the legislator.
“This is not only a big help to the 120,000 tobacco farmers but will also boost the economy of the tobacco-producing provinces,” Singson said.
Singson also lauded Mighty’s commitment to directly help tobacco farmers produce better-quality tobacco through the donation of farm implements like tractors and irrigation pumps to farmers belonging to the National Tobacco Association of Tobacco Farmers Association and Cooperatives in La Union early last year.
