24 hurt as jeep collides with cargo truck in Bohol town

A jeepney and a cargo truck had a head on collision on Wednesday morning at Brgy. Taguihan, Baclayon town in Bohol.

TAGBILARAN CITY—At least 24 people were hurt – four in critical condition – on Wednesday when the passenger jeepney they were riding collided with a cargo truck in Baclayon town, about 8 km south of here.

Among those in critical condition was Rodel Baudita, driver of the passenger jeepney that was heading to Tagbilaran from Sikatuna town.

According to PO1 Versil Comicue of the Baclayon police traffic division, the passenger jeepney was speeding along the national highway in Barangay Taguihonat, Baclayon at around 8 a.m. when Baudita tried to overtake the vehicle in front of him.

But Baudita didn’t notice the incoming cargo truck from the opposite lane, causing the collision. The passenger jeepney then fell on its side.

The cargo truck driven by Narciso Esclamado, meanwhile, hit a mango tree on the roadside. The truck which came from Tagbilaran was bound for Valencia town.

A total of 22 passengers including the driver and his helper were injured in the collision.
