2 Pinoys fight in hostile turfs today

REIGNING Asian Boxing Council minimumweight titlist Roilo Golez of Compostela Valley will fight for the WBC silver miniumweight title in Mexico against hometown boy Samuel Gutierrez at the Centro de Expositores de Puebla in Puebla, Mexico today.

Golez (12W-6L, 4 KOs) won the Asian belt in Thailand by an upset 10th round TKO against Thai Thongthailek Sor Tanapinyo.

Gutierrez (29W-6L-2D, 20 KOs) is a former WBA interim minimumweight titlist and has lost to champion fighters like Nkosinathi Joyi, Raul Garcia and Omar Niño Romero.

Later in the day, Philippine lt. flyweight champ Jerson Mancio of the ALA Gym will challenge unbeaten Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) lt. flyweight champ Ryo Miyazaki in Osaka, Japan.

Mancio (13W-5L-3D, 5 KOs) will be fighting overseas for the first time. Miyazaki (14W-0L-3D, 8 KOs) will be making the first defense of the OPBF title he won last June by twelve round unanimous decision over Filipino Donny Mabao.
