Dad suffers heart attack while watching Pacquiao-Mayweather fight

NAGA CITY–A municipal councilor in the town of Barcelona in Sorsogon province suffered heart attack and died on the way to the hospital after watching round 2 of the Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather fight on Sunday.

Barcelona Mayor Manuel Fortes Jr., in a phone interview Tuesday, identified the municipal councilor as Jesus Datur, 62, a boxing enthusiast and a fan of Manny Pacquiao.

Fortes said Datur was watching the fight by pay per view in their house on May 3 when at round two of the so-called fight of the century he complained of chest pain.

He said the councilor was rushed to the hospital but he was declared dead on arrival.

Fortes said a week before the heart attack, Datur was hospitalized for his ailment.

He said the necrological service for Datur was slated on May 13 at the Barcelona Municipal Hall before his interment.
