Did you know: Enrique Mendiola
Mendiola, a historical street leading to Malacañang and home to several universities in Manila, was named after the late educator Enrique Mendiola. Born on May 3, 1859, in San Miguel, Manila, he taught at Liceo de Manila and founded the Instituto Burgos, which introduced new concepts of pedagogy emphasizing character building. He was also appointed member of the first UP Board of Regents. Mendiola died on March 30, 1914, at the age of 54.–Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
