The state weather bureau sees one to two tropical cyclones for the month of May despite the prevailing dry season.
Chris Perez, weather forecaster of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), said on Friday that the easterlies, or warm winds from the east, would continue to be the dominant weather system for the month.
For the next two to three days, temperatures of 35 to 36 degrees Celsius are forecast in Metro Manila, Perez said.
The highest temperature in Metro Manila for 2015 so far is 36.2 degrees Celsius registered on April 18.
Panahon TV, in a separate report, said the other expected weather systems for the month include intertropical convergence zone or ITCZ.
It will gradually recede northward, bringing a potential low pressure area that could intensify into a cyclone.
The ridge of a high pressure area can also extend over the Philippine area of responsibility. The southwest monsoon or habagat, could also start to affect the western section of the country. AU
