MANILA, Philippines–The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Wednesday urged jobseekers, including new graduates, to take advantage of the more than 100,000 job vacancies during Labor Day job fairs nationwide.
With the theme “Disenteng Trabaho at Kabuhayan, Alay Natin sa Bayan,” Araw ng Paggawa 2015 will feature the job and livelihood fair to be held at The Forum 1 & 2 of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) Complex in Pasay City on May 1, 2015, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said that in the National Capital Region alone, over 30,000 job vacancies await recent graduates, unemployed/displaced workers, returning overseas Filipino workers, and beneficiaries of the Pantawid ng Pamilyang Pilipino Program.
To date, 75 employers looking to hire around 12,000 jobseekers for local employment, and 28 private recruitment agencies seeking about 18,000 overseas workers have confirmed their participation at the job fair.
On the other hand, labor officials said there are around 140,000 jobs available for jobseekers in the regions.
