The Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN) rejected on Tuesday a last-ditch attempt by death-row inmate Frenchman Serge Atlaoui to avoid the firing squad.

The court dismissed Atlaoui’s appeal against President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s decision to reject his request for clemency.

“The court cannot accept the lawsuit. The litigant is required to pay Rp 186,000 [US$14.4] for the lawsuit,” said head of Jakarta’s PTUN head Hendro Puspito in his ruling uploaded on the court’s website.

It remains unclear whether Atlaoui will be included in the list of inmates scheduled to be executed early on Wednesday.
