PNP names anti-illegal drugs task force head as new spokesman

THE  reshuffle in key posts in the Philippine National Police (PNP) continues as a new public information officer of the 150,000 strong police force was named on Monday.

Police Senior Superintendent Bartolome Tobias was named as the new spokesperson of the PNP, replacing outgoing PIO officer in charge (OIC) Chief Generoso Cerbo Jr.

Tobias will hold the position in an OIC capacity.

Before being appointed as the new PIO-OIC, Tobias served as the chief of the PNP Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force unit.

On the other hand, Cerbo was promoted as Chief of Directorate for Intelligence.

The outgoing PIO-OIC was appointed twice for his post and he was also the former deputy chief of directorate of intelligence.

The PNP remains headless, as no permanent police chief has been appointed by President Benigno Aquino III following the resignation of Police Director General Alan Purisima last February. AJH
