Bodyguard to gov’t official wins P102-M Super Lotto jackpot

MANILA, Philippines – After years of being a personal security guard of a government official, a man from Parañaque City might consider hiring his own security personnel after he claimed on Wednesday, close to P102-million in jackpot prize from 6/49 Super Lotto.

The 37-year-old father of two is the sole player who correctly picked the winning combination 09-18-23-25-29-35 in the April 16 draw of the Super Lotto 6/49.

The winner exactly took home P101,927,592, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office vice chair and general manager Jose Ferdinand Rojas II.

The winner, who claimed his prize at the agency’s head office in Mandaluyong City on Wednesday, told Rojas that he had quite a list of how he would use his prize money.

First, he will buy a house and lot for his family, as well as save a portion for his children’s education and future needs.

Second, the winner, whom Rojas described as “timid and kind,” would like to share part of his winnings with his siblings to help them improve their lives. The winner is the second in a brood of six, according to Rojas.

Last, the winner will donate a portion of his newfound wealth to the church, and help his co-worker, who is in financial need.

Now that he has become a multimillionaire, the winner told Rojas that he would resign from his longtime job as a personal guard.

Rojas said that the winner and his wife would also start a business, but the two have not decided on the nature of business they would invest their money in.

The winner, who has been playing the lottery for the past three years, randomly picked the winning combination and bought only a single ticket.

The 6/49 jackpot prize soared to almost P102 million after no lucky player guessed the correct combination in the game’s last 38 draws that started in Feb. 19. SFM
