96th birth anniversary of NA for Literature Edith Tiempo

Today, April 22, is the 96th birth anniversary of National Artist for Literature Edith Tiempo. Born in 1919, Tiempo is a renowned poet, fictionist, teacher and literary critic. She won numerous prizes from the Don Carlos Palanca Awards, the CCP literary contest and the Philippines Free Press contest. With husband Edilberto Tiempo, she cofounded the Silliman National Writers Workshop in 1962. Tiempo was conferred the title of National Artist in 1999. She died in 2011.
