MRT 3 resumes half-line operations

/ 07:37 PM October 01, 2011

MANILA, Philippines—Metro Rail Transit 3 resumed half-line operations Saturday afternoon, after being suspended due to power failure, a spokesman for the MRT3 and Light Rail Transit Authority said.

Lawyer Hernando Cabrera  told INQUIRER.net that their technicians have fixed half of the MRT3 line, allowing operations to resume from Shaw Boulevard Station to Taft Avenue Station vice versa at around 3:30 p.m.

He said that the other half, from North Avenue Station to Shaw Boulevard Station, was still being checked by technicians.

Power failure at the MRT3’s North Avenue Station at around 10:50 a.m. hampered the rail transit’s signalling systems, causing the entire line to shut down.

Meanwhile, the LRT 1 and 2 operations were not disrupted Saturday and have maintained normal operations, said Cabrera.
