A man who went by the name “Batman” could have eluded arrest for robbery in Valenzuela City if he had kept his knife in his pocket.
Patrolling cops on motorbike caught Jommel Dionisio, alias Batman, at around 3 p.m. on Friday on Road 5, San Miguel Heights in Marulas, toying with a knife which he allegedly used for breaking into a house.
Victim Jerome Nicolas told police that the 26-year-old suspect was able to get his Nokia cell phone by destroying the screen door of his house on Mansanas Street, Road 1 in San Miguel Heights.
Cases of robbery and violation against carrying bladed weapons were filed against the suspect in the Valenzuela City prosecutor’s office.
Meanwhile, Rolando Saballe, 46, and Flor Castello, 32, pretended to be sales agents and stole the iPhone 4s of a 76-year-old woman inside her house in Barangay North Bay Boulevard South in Navotas City at 11 a.m. on Friday.
Saballe took Lolida Manuel’s cell phone on top of the table as she switched on the fan.
Manuel saw what he did and reprimanded him. The two immediately left the house but were later arrested by cops and the phone was recovered. A case of theft would be filed against the two.
In Caloocan City, Ronald de Castro was also arrested for robbing a jeepney passenger of her cell phone.
Emeriza Manansala was riding in a jeepney to her house in Barangay Tañong in Malabon City when the 21-year-old suspect took her phone at around 12:50 p.m. on Friday, police said.
Castro was able to escape as the jeepney stopped on Samson Road in Caloocan City due to heavy traffic.
But he was later arrested in a follow-up operation. A robbery case was filed against him in Caloocan City prosecutor’s office. RC
