Dengue cases on the rise

The number of dengue cases in the country rose by 6 percent this year, with nearly 20,000 incidents reported by the Department of Health (DOH) from January to April.

Based on the DOH National Epidemiology Center’s dengue surveillance report, there was a total of 19,946 dengue cases recorded from Jan. 1 to April 4, or 6.49 percent higher compared to 18,730 cases in the same period last year.

However, the number of deaths from dengue dropped from 85 to 53. Jocelyn R. Uy
