Interior Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II has expressed his “interest” to become the Liberal Party’s (LP) bet in 2016, Senate President Franklin Drilon said on Friday.
Drilon, LP’s vice president, said the party has not convened yet but Roxas has made known his interest “internally.”
“Wala pa pong convention, ‘yan po ay nasa aming bylaws at wala pa pong convention na ginaganap o tinatawag pero magkakaroon ‘yan (There has been no convention yet, but as stated in our bylaws, there’ll be one),” the Senate leader said in an interview over Radyo Inquirer.

But when asked who is the leading possible standard-bearer or if there are other aspirants from the LP, Drilon said: “Si Mar Roxas has expressed his interest internally na ibig niyang iharap, I mean to offer his candidacy to the public at iyon po ay e-endorse po siguro ng ating partido. So as of now, si Mar Roxas (Mar Roxas ha expressed his interest internally to offer his candidacy to the public and this will probably be endorsed by the party).”

Roxas ran but lost to Vice President Jejomar Binay in the 2010 elections.
But asked about Roxas’ possible running mate in 2016, Drilon said he was not aware of anyone and this has not been discussed yet by the party. IDL
