MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine National Police vowed on Monday to bring to justice the killer of former Philippine Daily Inquirer correspondent, Melinda “Mei” Magsino, who was shot dead in Batangas City on Monday (Apr. 13).
Chief Supt. Generoso Cerbo Jr., spokesperson of the Philippine National Police, said the Batangas provincial police office has been ordered to get to the bottom of Magsino’s murder in Barangay (village) Balagtas at around noontime.
“The PNP, through the Batangas police, will of course investigate this case, identify the culprit and charge him in court,” the police
official said.
Initial investigation showed that Magsino was walking along a street in Purok 2 in Barangay Balagtas at around 12:10 p.m., Monday, when an assailant shot her in the head.
The 41-year-old Magsino died on the spot due to a gunshot wound in the head while the gunman fled on a black and white Honda motorcycle being driven by another man. SFM
