Trillanes damaging many institutions – Nancy Binay
SENATOR Nancy Binay lashed back at Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Monday, saying his brand of politics already borders on “verbal terrorism.”
“It is disturbing that Sen. Trillanes does not even make an effort to hide the fact that his actions are motivated by his ambition. He will stop at nothing to get to the position he wants in 2016. Nagagawa niyang sagasaan ang hudikatura at manira ng pamilya,” Binay said in a statement.
It was unfortunate, she said, that Trillanes would resort to “lies, distortions and unrestrained hate barrage” against institutions like the Court of Appeals (CA) and even local courts just to push for his political agenda.
The lady senator then noted how Trillanes instantly blamed her father, Vice President Jejomar Binay, after the San Fernando Regional Trial Court Branch 42 decided to bar detained businessman Delfin Lee from attending the Senate blue ribbon subcommittee this Monday when in fact, it was the Department of Justice (DOJ)that opposed the earlier ruling.

“He alleged that my father was behind the move even before he got hold of a copy of the decision. What he is doing is destroy first and search for proof later which is doing a great damage to many institutions, and I fear how much damage he will do to our judiciary because of his baseless accusations,” she said.

“Kung may hawak syang ebidensya bakit kailangan pa niyang magpatawag ng hearing? Ilabas na niya at magsampa ng demanda kaysa puro media. We have to stop throwing around baseless accusations and let the evidence speak for itself, if such evidence even exists,” she said.
She was confident that her colleague would once more fail to provide proof in his latest move to discredit the Vice President, who has declared his intention to run for president in 2016.
“Exposés should be backed up by evidence. Hindi lamang ang pamilya namin ang gusto niyang idawit dito—pati ang justice system natin ay inaakusahan niya. Napakaraming paratang sa amin ni Senator Trillanes ngunit hindi naman niya mapatunayan. What is unfortunate, para lamang mapansin sya, he is using the resources of the Senate in harming the good name of my father,” Binay lamented.
It was also Trillanes, who initiated the Senate blue ribbon subcommittee’s investigation into the allegedly anomalous construction of the Makati City Hall 2 parking building.
Senator Binay said the investigation on the parking building was the longest in the history of the subcommittee “but until today, none of the accusations presented during its hearings have been proven.”
Efforts to discredit her family, she said, started early in anticipation of the 2016 presidential elections using the subcommittee as a “propaganda platform.”
“Bago siya magparatang sa amin, sana ay sigurado na siyang hindi sila mapapahiya sa mga walang katuturang akusasyon. Ang payo ko sa kanila, tumulong muna siya sa mga kababayan nating naghihirap at sawang-sawa na sa pamumulitika nila. O kung sadyang hindi siya mapipigilan, sana siguraduhin muna sana niya na mapapatunayan niya ang mga akusasyong ito sa korte,” Senator Binay added. AC
