THE Villaraza & Angangco (V&A) Law Office dared Senator Antonio Trillanes IV to reveal his “reliable sources” and produce proof of his allegations that one of their partners, Atty. Pancho Villaraza, facilitated the transaction to bribe two Court of Appeals Justices to issue a ruling in favor of Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay.
Trillanes alleged that Villaraza talked to Court of Appeals Associate Justices Jose Reyes Jr. and Francisco Acosta and facilitated the payment of P25-million each to stop the suspension of Makati City Mayor Binay.
Bienvenido I. Somera Jr., the law firm’s managing partner, called Trillanes’ allegation as baseless
“In the spirit of fairness and in accordance with due process, we challenge Senator Trillanes to reveal who his reliable sources are, and more importantly to produce proof to support his libelous statements,” Somera said.
Somera said it seems that Trillanes “is being misled and dragged by adversaries of the firm into the private commercial dispute referred to in his resolution.”
The law firm pointed out that Binay is not their client.
“Mayor Junjun Binay is not a client of the firm, and specifically, the firm does not represent the Mayor in the cases filed against him,” Somera said. AC
