Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle yesterday said he had submitted five names from the religious sector who will compose the National Peace Summit that had been tasked to dissect and discuss calmly the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).
Tagle said he had sat down in a meeting with the other four leaders of the peace council shortly after President Aquino announced its creation two weeks ago.
“We met once just to submit the names. It will be the secretariat who will call for them,” Tagle told reporters on the sidelines of the launching of Caritas Manila’s coffee table book, “Love for the Poor: The Story of Caritas Manila” at the Ayala Museum in Makati City yesterday.
He also clarified that the peace council was not an investigative body and that his participation as one of the conveners was to identify other personalities who have the capability to study the controversial peace agreement of the government with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.
“I was invited to submit names of people, citizens who can study calmly and critically the BBL so I submitted a few names,” said Tagle. But he refused to reveal the names and how he came up with his choice.
