Hearings to resume on ‘family syndicate’

Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV said the next Senate blue ribbon subcommittee hearings next week would scrutinize Jejomar Binay’s alleged corrupt practices as Vice President, along with his misdeeds as mayor.

He said it was important to focus on the Vice President’s alleged crimes as he could be one of the country’s biggest problems.

The Vice President, who is also the Aquino administration’s so-called housing czar, earlier said he expected his critics to step up their attacks and to continue the “lies” against him to destroy his planned run for the presidency in 2016.

“Vice President Binay is one of the biggest problems that the country would face so we need to give him the necessary attention. Otherwise, he would flourish, he will abuse and rape the country,” Trillanes said.

Mayor Junjun Binay, who was a city councilor when his father ruled the city, will also figure in the topics to be discussed at next week’s hearing, he said.

“That family is a syndicate,” said Trillanes.
