THIEF SHOOTS BRITON

A 29-YEAR-OLD British national was shot and wounded by a man who stole his laptop inside a bar in barangay Camputhaw, Cebu City, last Friday dawn.

Joe Ryan, who is temporarily staying in a hotel in Fuente Osmeña, was wounded in the stomach.

Police said Ryan and an unidentified foreigner were drinking in a bar on Gorordo Avenue when a motorcycle with two men on board stopped at the driveway of the bar at 4:30 a.m.

Police said one of the two men approached the two foreigners and took Ryan’s laptop that was placed on top of a table.

The man went back to the motorcycle. Ryan followed him but was shot twice in the stomach.

The two men drove off while a wounded Ryan followed them on board a taxi.

When the taxi failed to catch up with the two men, Ryan proceeded to the Fuente police station.

Policemen brought the foreigner to the Chong Hua Hospital.

MAN SHOT IN LAPU

A 28-YEAR-OLD man was shot and wounded while he and his wife were walking along a road in barangay Bangkal, Lapu-Lapu City, last Thursday night.

Almar Madrigal sustained three gunshot wounds in the body.

Police are still investigating the motive of the shooting.

Police said Madrigal and his wife were walking in a dark alley when an unidentified man appeared from behind.

The stranger first asked the couple the way to the main road. He then drew a gun and shot Madrigal several times.

The couple ran and sought help from neighbors, who helped bring the victim to the Mactan Doctors’ Hospital.

2 GUN MAKERS NABBED

POLICE arrested two alleged illegal gun makers in barangay Looc, Danao City, northern Cebu, last Thursday afternoon.

Jonathan Bada Pasaol, 50, and Jerry Gonzalez Roca, 43, were arrested in an entrapment operation conducted by operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB).

Police said the two men sold nine .45 pistols and KG-9 pistols worth P135,000.

Police said the men were arrested after they handed a backpack containing the guns to a poseur-buyer.

Pasaol admitted that he has been into gun-making for 27 years.
