The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh is providing legal assistance to 22 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) repatriated from Saudi Arabia who filed a lawsuit against their company, which is experiencing financial difficulties.
The OFWs, who worked for the Mohammad Al-Mojil Group (MMG), arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 10:14 a.m. on Saturday aboard Philippine Airlines flight PR683.
According to the embassy’s website, the repatriated workers were “among the hundreds employed by the struggling Saudi company.”
The embassy said efforts are underway to repatriate an undisclosed number of Filipino workers staying at the company’s facility in Jubail, Eastern Province.
The embassy provided the workers’ plane tickets back to the country because MMG was experiencing “acute financial and operational problems.”
“The embassy has also provided a local lawyer to represent the Filipino MMG workers who have decided to file a legal complaint against the company for gross violations of their rights and entitlements under Saudi labor law,” it said in a statement.
It added that the case against MMG is now in progress at the Saudi Labor Office Primary Commission in Dammam, Eastern Province.
