Workers protest against low wages and high cost of living

Protesters in Manila re-enacted the crucifixion of Christ on Tuesday to draw attention to inequality in the Philippines.

One protester dressed as ‘Christ the Worker’ carried a cross through the street near the presidential palace flanked by two men dressed as Roman soldiers.

‘Christ the Worker’ depicted the many ‘crosses’ being carried by workers and ordinary Filipinos today, the activists said.

Workers in the Philippines have been demanding a higher minimum wage for years to catch up with the rising cost of living in the country.
